New Draft Picks, New Season, New Breed

The set up for the NBA "Bubble Season" was incredible. Everyone who played a part in its creation and functionality deserve a round of applause and a huge 'Thank You'. They gave us a game we love, on a major scale- - during a pandemic outbreak, a crashing economy, a rise in social injustice and the most severe natural disasters to date. It was a treat for us, a glimpse of normalcy during these unprecidented times.Introducing virtual fans to be a part of the action and helping to produce a total live game experience. Not only for the fans, but for the players too. With the deaths of George Floyd, Amad Aubrey, and Breonna Taylor, social injustice(particularly related to black lives)was at a all time high. The world was watching, people were out in the streets protesting and voicing there feelings. Voicing their rage, concerns, and despair, as well as, showing their love, hope and solidarity. The NBA players and the NBA as a whole did such a phenomenal job holding space for us, "we the people" as we expressed our emotions during this pandemic while continuing to fight for their cities to be crowned The Champs. Only a few teams excelled while most others just withered away. The LA Clippers were highly favored but later emploded. Confirming they may have had the hype but not the talent and teamwork ready to carry them to the finals. In the end, it came down to the LA Lakers and my home team, the Miami Heat. Both teams fought hard but by game six the Lakers showed no mercy and they were crowned the 2020 NBA Champions. It was a great series from my squad the Miami Heat. Although the Lakers took the title home to LA the Heat remain champions of the eastern conference.

As pre season started, teams worked hard to get their rookies in shape as quickly as possible. Covid restrictions caused huge changes to the new season. First off, no summer leagues to build up the legs, endurance and team camaraderie before the regular 2021 season took place. Second, Until most of our population is vaccinated, there is limited to no seating in the stadiums. A bright light in all of this is the rookie draft class this year. There is some great talent and some real hidden gems that will reveal themselves soon enough. Being a Heat fan, I gotta say, our pick was perfect for our style of play. Miami Heat is an organization that has a true gift for  bringing talent to the city. Precious Achiuwa solidifies a rebounding game that's impeccable and with Bam locked in, we have everything covered on the perimeter.

Due to these unpresidented times, The Lakers were unable to receive their 2020 championship rings until tonight. Now every team is out to dim their light and prevent a 2 peat.. And the real work begins.  Finding out who will be crowned the the Champs 🏆for 2021.  I'm running with my Miami Heat to be back in the Finals and take the chip away from LA. Wishful thinking ? Maybe..Maybe not! Just the knowing there are a few teams that can compete on our level makes this season super exciting!

I'm thrilled for the season and I am even more pumped for the launch of JumpBall Apparel.  We are The New Breed in basketball apparel and fashion. As the game grows, so does this brand. JBA brings the same tenacity, passion, and skill set that those players do to the hardwood floor . If you love the game like I do don't hesitate to start a discussion.  As I said earlier, I have my eye on a  particular group of rookies and I am looking forward to them proving me right!  Who will be the rookie of the year🤔 ? Looking forward to a great season in spite of the pandemic. Be safe.
